My name is Janet and I’m a 50 year old mother of 3 young kids. I’ve been referred to as a “Granola” because of my love for anything to do with the outdoors, nature, green living and holistic health. Since 1992 I have had an interest in natural health and natural healing. Around that time I heard the quote by Hippocrates, “Let your food be your medicine and your medicine be your food” and I really took it to heart. Overall wellness such as eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly and being mindful also became interests of mine and have so many benefits for our Earth and ourselves. Additionally, there are so many great natural remedies for common ailments that cost very little and don’t have the harmful side effects of many of the over the counter or prescription drugs on the market.
After years of research one of the most useful things I have found to combat intermittent issues such as fever, sleeplessness, or anxiety is by using essential oils. There are numerous recipes for remedies that are so simple to use, inexpensive and easily prepared. Essential oils can be used for everything from growing longer eyelashes to getting rid of fleas! And another great benefit is that they’re Fun to use!!
When I was 12 (in 1979) I began to hear things about alternative energy. This was toward the end of the U.S. “energy crisis” when there had been lines of cars waiting for overpriced gasoline, and even cereal boxes promoted energy conservation. I recall putting a sticker on our kitchen light switch cover that had been the prize at the bottom of the box which said, “Fruit Brute says “Keeping Lights OUT is IN””. From that point on Green Living became an interest of mine, although it wasn’t called that back then.
I’ve always been somewhat physically active, although rather clumsy, having broken my elbow in a mountain bike race, and my ankle doing step aerobics. I took a fairly long break from exercise after the birth of my second child (and the ankle break) but began running in 2012. That has led me on a whole other journey!
With this site I hope to provide you with useful, straightforward information that will help you on your way to a more natural way of healing, and a healthier lifestyle that benefits not only you, but the people and community around you.
